Paperless Delivery

Supply Chain Management Use Case Paperless

Your company is shipping different items to one or several locations. You want to timely and efficiently delivery to your customers, have the flexibility to use different logistic service providers and create a good customer delivery experience.

The Connected Logistics Chain solution supports the digitization and optimization of logistic chains and supports paperless deliveries.

Challenge

You are interested in:

  • Reduced manual activities

  • Get a more solid proof that delivery has happened

  • Get information on handling events, such as pick-up, delivery and position updates in real-time

  • Lower the usage of paper and packaging material

  • Be more flexible to what logistic service provider to use

Solution

In a basic set-up, a shipper creates a shipment in a transport management system, publishes the shipment information in Connected Logistics Chain and sends a delivery request to a Logistic Service Provider. The service provider picks up the shipment and creates a pick-up event simply by scanning the QR code on the package (handling unit) or through an automated event creation using video scan and IoT technology.

At arrival at the destination the service provider performs a proof of delivery (via scan or IoT geo-fencing with time-stamp and location) with optionally a signature from a consignee and a photo as proof. Information is digitally in real-time available accessible from a standard browser for all relevant parties in the chain.

Also Supports

  • Position updates using video scanning, IoT geo-fencing, or other proximity recognition technology.

  • Linking packages and shipments to IoT solutions, vehicles or phones enabling real-time tracking and allows for ETA updates to support real-time visibility and monitoring.

  • Include re-usable packaging or handling units with permanent identities (/QR codes), such as a pallet from a pallet pool. The identity of the handling unit can be used to identify shipments and create handling events.

  • Adding integration to fleet management for accurate ETA’s.

  • Registering delivery and pick-up’s from hand-over points between different transportation legs or carriers and in-between storage locations such as cross-docks.

Result

  • Reduction of manual activities, reducing costs and increasing accuracy.

  • Shorter time between delivery and invoicing reducing outstanding working capital days

  • Higher quality of proof of deliveries leading to faster problem resolving and fewer disputes

  • Better customer experience through visibility and smooth handling of deliveries.

  • Lower the usage of paper and packaging material.

  • Higher flexibility to which and how many logistic service providers to use
